Object vs event based theories on sound and listening could be seen as practices of listening. Interestingly they place importance on different aspects of sound and thus the listening experience – one on the source of sound (thinking musique concrete, remix/mash up culture and recording/production music) and the other on the contextual experience of sound (sound installation, acoustics). In a way sound performance can mix both.
Much of the desired listening practice to approach a work can be inferred from the architectural set up of the work. This draws on cultural/relational politics of being ie: concert stage vs stand alone installation

Wave form theory of sound at odds with events based approach according to o’callaghan as it suggests – we don’t hear sound moving we hear a sound from a source in a space. “the sound event has a location, and a pattern of pitch, timbre, loudness and duration.” p.37 o’callaghan
The event view allows us to think bout sounds as individuated – p. 39

Manipulation of musical blocks
Each movement is complete in itself like building blocks. And the movements are one after an other in a linear fashion so it ends up telling a story.
Music is not sound itself but a way of manipulating sound , a certain aesthetic, and so is it possible to work with sound with a visual medium in a musical way? Can you make a film look musical?
I believe that composition is hard work and it si fun and it’s about problem solving…to stay interested I’ve managed to pose myself different questions and different problems.
